associate with ALL people who are, or at least willing, to be reasonable, rational and willing to discuss, debate and work together to find solutions. We are from every corner of the planet. We come from all backgrounds and all situations. We have an infinite number of specific beliefs, an infinite variety of differences and an infinite amount of opinions. Each one equally and potentially valid and ALL deserves a chance to be heard, at the least.
To spite our uniqueness, we have endless common threads that run through us all. I am not a politician, a scholar, a theologian or a philosopher. I am a common man, like 2thirds of us, not happy or content with the direction our country is headed.
Violence and hate are for sure NOT the answer. Division is NOT the answer. Conflict is NOT the answer. Singing Kumbaya together is NOT the answer either. This will NOT be easy.
Communication, discussion, debate, compromise would be a great place for us to start. We are fragmented, frustrated, scared and confused about the state of our country and the world. The information that we all receive, at the very least is biased, if not totally untrue. I personally have lost faith in the media, politicians and our leaders, in general. Is it possible that most are ultimately concerned with themselves and/or their political agendas? I do not believe we can rely on them to fix this.
must find a way to open ourselves to each other, have the ugly conversations that we need to be had! Take individual responsibility for our own actions and find solutions. If you can, just for a moment, put yourself in the shoes of your brother or your sister, your fellow human being, and imagine how they got there? Bad luck? Bad decisions? We have ALL had both.
The2thirds.org is a grass roots movement to bring people together to find practical, meaningful solutions. I believe that 2 thirds of us CAN agree and CAN find a new way to move forward. We must discover the TRUTH, Stand for EQUALITY, reestablish JUSTICE and maintain FREEDOM.
